Valleys of death life: productization, commercialization & funding

1 We make sure yours is a rock-solid business with customers, funded.

Most space ventures are engineering powerhouses, but miss the mark when it comes to product/service portfolio creation, customer development and commercialization. 2 Space Ventures guides a maximum of 2+2 space ventures per year from stealth to product-market fit stage, ensuring their tech is being built on a rock-solid business foundation from idea to launch.

Because that enables us to vet and pre-qualify space startups, we act as a trusted partner to space VCs and public funding sources alike, saving them precious time and money.

2 We bet the bank on the success of a chosen few.

We never work with more than 2+2 ventures at the same time. Deliberately depriving ourselves of a diversified portfolio strategy - unlike every other investor out there - has two effects:

  1. We’re forced to support our founders more than any VC in the market, and

  2. We’re forced to vet our founders more thoroughly than anybody else. Which in turn stands as a badge of honor that opens doors to VCs in our network and beyond.

If this is you

An early-stage team

of exceptional performers in EU or US, < 18 months, building orbital space tech for commercial or dual-use (see below for markets)

A good idea

of the problem you want to solve and for which customers (you’ll need to prove to us that they actually have this problem)

An understanding

of the roles of hardware and software, both for R&D and in the shape of tech components for your product and/or service

Your captable

is relatively clean (this means you have none or few investors up to this point), and you have raised less than $/€100k

A strong SME

(subject matter expert; of the customer problem) is part of your founding team at the time of your application to 2 Space Ventures

1 strong engineer

is part of your team, you have access to more in your network; our veterans vet every engineer before we accept your application

You have a strong bias for action,

sense of urgency, a high motivation for treating everything that has not yet been proven through product-market fit, testing hypotheses and killing your darlings, the proven ability to work efficiently (smart, not just hard), willingness to roll up your sleeves (twice), and the grit and stamina to push through the pushback and pain and put the work in to get your startup out there. No less.

we want you to apply.

Start by sending us a message via the contact form. We’ll invite you to send a written application if we’re interested. This way we all save time.

THIS COULD ALL BE YOURS

What you don’t need

We’re very different than other venture firms…

Funding

Our main job #1. Our network (vs. LP) approach provides freedom & agility.

Knowledge

about how much funding you need. We’ll calculate that with you.

Market traction

(customers); nice to have, but that’s our main job #2. We perform customer development with you.

Existing tech product

though we’ll want to see progress towards that in your application.

Pitch deck

As a matter of fact, not only do you not need one - we’ll send you one!

Office

We believe only exceptional performers can make remote work work. Exceptions apply.

Website & collateral

We’ll set that up together. If you have it already, we’ll improve it to market-grade.

Business

team member in the founding team. Not necessary from the start, but we’d like to get you there asap. If already available, we’ll act as a sparring partner and door opener.

Markets

Large launcher systems (LLS) like Starship and New Glenn will unlock new opportunities for in-space operations, logistics and manufacturing. If you have an idea that makes creative use of large launchers and the primary and secondary applications enabled by them, we’d like to hear from you. If you don’t, you can still apply, if your idea is audacious.

  • Item description
  • Compute, sensors, networking, robotics - if your tech will have to be at the core of lots - if not all - new in-space development: talk to us.

  • The AWS/service/atomization approach to sat constellations

  • We usually don’t do launch, post-cis-lunar, or human space station tech, but if you think you’re the next SpaceX, we still want to hear from you.
